Virtual PC and Ubuntu

I finally sat down long enough this weekend to try my hand at installing Virtual PC 2007 and Ubuntu.

Virtual PC basically emulates a standard PC and it’s associated hardware. This enables you to run Windows XP in a Windows Vista environment. My husband bought a new PC and put Vista 64 on it, but unfortunately, there were no drivers for his laser engraver available for Vista 64. He was able to install VPC and use Windows XP to print to the laser engraver.

Most of the process was pretty straight forward. Install VPC, create an emulated environment and install Ubuntu. The Ubuntu installation had a couple of quirks, such as, the video display and the mouse.

Below, I have listed several links that helped me get through the issues.

After going through and fixing the issues, I am finally able to start playing with Ubuntu (Woo Hoo!!).

Hope this help anyone trying to run Ubuntu under Windows XP via VPC.
